Are you looking for something that you can really get stuck into?
Something that can get you out and about, and working with people?
Are you a confident cyclist?
Our Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training may be exactly what you’re looking for. Our course training is geared at confident cyclists who want to gain some of the core leadership skills that will enable them to work with children, young people, and adults. For some sections of society, cycling as a key life skill can be the key to independence and wellbeing.
The 1st4sport Level 2 course has 32 guided learning hours and was developed in partnership with Bikeability. It gives students the most comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of teaching cycling skills, with the parameters for safe road cycling outlined by the Department for Transport.
There are 5 mandatory units including the planning, delivery and review of cycle training and their assessments. You can apply for this course with two separate pathways based on whether you are an existing NSI cycle instructor or start your journey with us afresh. You will learn to teach cycle skills on roads in closed and open environments based on journeys children may often complete.
Beyond this, your focus will be on maintaining the safety of participants and creating programs of activities that will have as many pupils engaging as possible. This course makes it possible for you to support a myriad of stakeholders from youth workers to teaching professionals with cycle-themed activities.
