This October, we are offering the chance for cyclists to learn how to pass on this lifelong skill to children and adults alike. Cycle instruction gives participants the chance to be their own boss at the forefront of sustainable travel. And with a host of experienced instructors from First Step Cycle on your side, you’ll be off and rolling in no time.
The 1st4Sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycling is a full package course. Designed to offer a comprehensive degree of training across 5 individual units, successful participants will have covered the theory and practical teaching necessary to meeting national standards. In just one course, you’ll have the confidence and skill to teach children and adults to ride safely on the road, according to Department for Transport standards.
The course itself is well-suited to those who are interested in becoming paid and volunteer cycle instructors, in a variety of settings including coaching, activity leadership, and the support of school environments.
For those of you who have prior experience, we offer two separate pathways to becoming an instructor with us. You can sign up for our 4-day tutor-led course as a new instructor or if you already have and National Standard for cycle Instruction (NSI), you can register with us through our second pathway. Using your current NSI number, you can complete the online tasks and upload your required evidence.
Our 4-day course will take place in the October half term, between the 25th and 29th of October. All our cycle training for instruction requires a general fitness level and competent cycling skills. We advise you to make sure you fit the requirements or have completed the Level 3 Bikeability training before applying.
