The Client

Synergy Sports Coaching is one of Lincolnshire’s leading school PE and sports providers. Working with primary schools and SEN secondary schools from all around the region, Synergy delivers school PE, extra-curricular sports and activity programmes to more than 10,000 children each and every week.

The company has been growing steadily since 2009, and in 2017, Managing Director Lee Turnbull was looking for ways to develop the quality of their service and drive the business forward. As part of this, he began investing in the coaching team, helping them to develop their skills by achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of PE & School Sport. 

Lee went looking for quality training that would make a real difference and add value to his business. 

The Challenge

Synergy Sports Coaching had been burnt before. They began working with another training provider only to find that the course delivery simply wasn’t up to scratch. Lee had to pull his coaches before they achieved the qualification.

We got in touch with Synergy Sports Coaching in 2017, and after meeting with First Step MD James and tutor Rob, they felt confident enough to try again, and enrolled four of their coaches in the Level 3 training programme. 

The Results

We provided a fully tailored, end to end programme, securing the funding for the candidates, and delivering flexible on-site training around Synergy’s school coaching schedule. 

All the coaches passed the course, and Lee was so pleased with the training, that he sent another team of coaches back to us in 2019. This time, we’re delivering remote training, fully supported by expert trainer Rob. All the training is delivered online, with video assessment – so it fits perfectly around the coaching.

Into the Future

The latest round of Synergy coaches are set to complete their Level 3 qualification with us later this year. As Synergy Sports Coaching continues to grow, as they look to inspire thousands of young people across Lincolnshire through sport. 

As the business develops, Synergy is continuing to invest in its coaches, providing them with invaluable industry qualifications to drive their careers forward, and improve the quality of their coaching services.
